Stanley Speaker Series

Stanley Speaker Series is a joint effort of Stanley BPS and our Parent Association (PA). Through the PA, your funds help support the Speaker Series, which brings engaging topics and ongoing family strategies and education to you throughout the school year.
Our mission is to provide our entire community with the most effective family educational topics and speakers to promote Stanley's vision for lifelong learning.

Out & Back: A Runner's Story of Survival Against All Odds

In 2017, world-class ultra runner Hillary Allen was at the top of her sport and it felt like she was running on top of the world as she competed in Norway's Tromso Skyrace. Allen was nearly halfway through the 50k race when she fell 150 feet off an exposed ridge, breaking two ribs, fracturing her back, rupturing a ligament in her foot, and breaking both wrists. Hear Allen's dramatic story of her accident and rescue, and her fight to return to the life she loves.
A Mighty Long Way: My Journey to Justice at Little Rock Central High School

In 1957, at age 14, Carlotta Walls LaNier and eight other students integrated Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. This act of courage and defiance became the catalyst for change in the American educational system.
The Little Rock Nine, as they would eventually be called, became 'foot soldiers' for freedom. Civil rights icon and National Women's Hall of Fame inductee Carlotta Walls LaNier
will bring to life a moment in history that changed the world while inspiring hope for the future.
