Spirit of Stanley Award
The Spirit of Stanley Award is given to a Stanley educator or community member who embodies the principles of our mission to engage, challenge and inspire a love of learning in our students.
Spirit of Stanley award winners are nominated based on their demonstrated commitment to British Primary philosophy and their indelible impact on our school, our alumni and our community. Spirit of Stanley Award recipients are honored at our annual Stan Talks event.

We are excited to present our 2026 Spirit of Stanley Award to Joanna Hambidge!
For more than 30 years, Joanna has made her mark on so much of what Stanley is today. She has served as a teacher, director of the Teacher Training Program, Director of Curriculum and Professional Development, Head of Elementary School, Head of Lower School, and Head of Professional Learning.
As a co-worker said, "Joanna is Stanley."
Another co-worker remarked, "Joanna holds British Primary in her heart and for our school. She has been the silent but driving force behind so much of what makes and has made our school what it is. She brought her mother's vision to life for years, and created a teacher prep program to ensure our philosophy lives beyond us. Joanna is a gift to our school in her ability to love us each for who we are. She is the embodiment of British Primary and though she humbly stands in the sidelines cheering on all of us, it is the time to honor her for all that she is."
