Spirit of Stanley Award
Chris Lewis, the 2025 Spirit of Stanley Award Winner!
Congratulations to Chris Lewis, who represents the true Spirit of Stanley! With a unique way of showing respect for every child, Chris is a part of so many favorite Stanley memories. A member of our faculty for over 30 years and the father of two Stanley alums, Chris has always taught with creativity, humor and a true love for the magic of childhood.
According to one of Chris' coworkers, "Chris embodies Stanley’s spirit as his students engage in joyful creative choices every day in his classroom! His classroom is a busy hive of woodworkers, creating larger than life dog houses, large structures that are goal posts one day and castles the next.
Others are creating cardboard marble runs, a giant dog, a yellow submarine, while still others are creating with clay, drawing, painting or playing guitars, drums or keyboards.
Choice is everywhere in the art barn!!! Chris supports student’s independence, resilience and determination. He is especially attuned to our students who might struggle socially and has provided a safe place for them to hang out, chat, feel seen and included. Chris Lewis has been doing this for over 30 years. He is the Spirit of Stanley!"
The Spirit of Stanley Award is given to a Stanley educator or community member who embodies the principles of our mission to engage, challenge and inspire a love of learning in our students.
Spirit of Stanley award winners are nominated based on their demonstrated commitment to British Primary philosophy and their indelible impact on our school, our alumni and our community. Spirit of Stanley Award recipients are honored at our annual Stan Talks event.
