Middle schoolers are ready for more: more independence, more challenge and more opportunities to discover who they are. At Stanley, students in grades 6–8 move into grade-specific academic classes while remaining grounded in the strong relationships and sense of belonging that define a Stanley education.
Teachers know students deeply as learners and as people. Through rigorous academics, project-based learning, multi-age homerooms and close relationships with advisors, students learn to think critically, take intellectual risks and assume increasing responsibility for their learning, preparing them for the independence and expectations of high school.

Middle School students move into grade-specific academic classes designed to deepen knowledge, strengthen essential skills and encourage increasingly sophisticated thinking. Across disciplines, students investigate meaningful questions, apply their learning through projects and real-world problems, and develop the resourcefulness to take on greater academic challenges.

Middle School leadership brings deep experience, a commitment to young adolescents and a shared belief that students thrive when they are known, challenged and trusted to grow.
Kendall Early
Head of Middle School
An empathetic, grounded and collaborative leader, Kendall believes deeply in student voice and agency. Before joining Stanley, he served on the senior administrative leadership team at St. Anne’s Episcopal School as Director of Inclusive Teaching and Learning and Director of High School Placement.
He began his career teaching high school math in Atlanta Public Schools after graduating from Stanford University. Throughout his career, he has remained a learner himself, modeling the curiosity, reflection and growth he encourages in students every day.
Julie Daughtry
Assistant Head of Middle School
An experienced educator and teacher-leader, Julie brings more than twenty years of experience in traditional and alternative secondary settings across public and independent schools in California, the UK and West Africa.
She joined Stanley as a 6th grade language arts teacher, a role she held for seven years before moving into Middle School leadership. A dedicated educator and Stanley parent, she supports students and faculty in pursuing joyful, lifelong learning.
