The Joy of Creativity
We learn and we have fun! Ask young and older students alike and you'll hear the same themes of instruction followed by limitless exploration.
Stanley students participate formally in four branches of artistic expression: music, dance, theater and visual arts. Instruction and expression in Stanley art classes are child-directed explorations. This ethic comes from our curricular goals for art students:
- Use courage, self-confidence, voice, skills and knowledge to visually, musically, dramatically, physically communicate and respond to the world through art
- Expression through the arts with intent, purpose and thoughtfulness
- Understand that art is an element of everyday life and learning
Arts Fest: A Uniquely Stanley Event
With its roots in the 1990s, Arts Fest is a beloved annual tradition, giving every child the opportunity to shine. With five different performance spaces throughout the school, all students are encouraged to share their talents, ranging from singing and dancing to comedy skits, hula-hooping and lacrosse skills. With teachers serving as sound engineers and cheerleaders, it's a day of creativity, nerves, risk-taking and joy.
